Workers’ Rights

Immigrant workers, especially undocumented immigrant workers, are particularly vulnerable to workplace abuses. CATA’s organizing work helps them to address:

  • Wage Theft
  • Workplace Discrimination
  • Unfair Firings
  • Unsafe/Unsanitary Housing Conditions

CATA Members are also participate in advocacy work to improve working conditions for all workers including:

  • Raising the Minimum Wage
  • Paid Time Off and Sick Leave
  • Collective Bargaining Protections

Health and Safety in the Workplace

CATA provides health and safety training on pesticide exposure, heatstroke, and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention to farmworkers on farm labor camps and in the immigrant communities where we work. Trainings are interactive and give workers the opportunity to talk about issues that they are seeing in their own workplaces and what steps to take to resolve them.
