The start of 2025 has been a critical time for the immigrant community as they continue facing challenges in their workplaces and communities. With increasing uncertainty and enforcement actions across the country, CATA has been working tirelessly to ensure that farmworkers and immigrant families have access to the resources, education, and support they need.
Providing Essential Support to the Immigrant Community

This year, CATA resumed its monthly Community Meetings, alternating between virtual and in-person gatherings to make them as accessible as possible.
January: A virtual Know Your Rights session covered how to respond to immigration encounters, what legal protections workers have regardless of status, and where to turn for support.
February: An in-person meeting in Bridgeton, NJ, focused on emergency preparedness for families, emphasizing the importance of creating a plan in case of detention or deportation. These meetings provide essential knowledge and tools to help workers navigate these difficult times.

Building Stronger Partnerships
CATA continues to expand collaborations with key allies to strengthen protections for the immigrant community:
Mexican and Guatemalan Consulates in Philadelphia – Recent meetings focused on coordinating workshops and resources to ensure immigrants and their families have access to the support they need.
Semana de Asesorías Legales Externas – In March, we participated in this initiative, hosted by the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia, where community members received free legal guidance on immigration, labor rights, and other critical issues.
CATA has hosted and participated in several coalition and partnership meetings of organizations coming together to coordinate resources to support the immigrant community

Expanding Outreach Through Community Events
CATA remains deeply engaged in the immigrant community, ensuring they have access to critical information and legal assistance.
DACA Renewal Clinic (February): Partnered with Mighty Writers El Futuro Kennett to assist eligible individuals in renewing their applications and exploring financial support options.
Bilingual Families Resource Fair (Vineland, NJ): Provided essential information on labor rights and workplace protections for immigrant families.
Know Your Rights Workshops (Hammonton & Vineland, NJ): Partnered with PRAC to bring this information directly to impacted communities
Looking Ahead
CATA remains committed to supporting and empowering the immigrant community in the face of ongoing challenges. In the coming months, we will continue expanding outreach efforts, advocating for stronger protections, and ensuring that farmworkers and immigrant families have access to vital resources.
Most importantly, CATA remains a safe and trusted space where immigrants can seek assistance, receive accurate information, and be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
